A Word From Our CEO

Jill Burgess

Owner/Cosmetologist

Jill “Jillizm” Burgess is a licensed cosmetologist with over 20 years of industry experience. She’s held various positions; lead makeup artist for several prestigious beauty brands; wig crafter for characters at Walt Disney World, and beauty educator. She also earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Entertainment Business from Full Sail University.

In 2019, after being laid off, she embarked on a spiritual journey to learn more about her African heritage and how that aligns with her purpose in life. During this time, she began crafting locs which became therapeutic; brought a sense of self-fulfillment, balance and awakening that no corporate career could offer. Crafting locs for clients by day and an Uber driver by night, she planned to bring her vision of combining locs into wicks, trunks and/or bonks to fruition. This was essential to her personal and spiritual growth and became a beautiful outlet to express her majestic creativity. She was given the opportunity to do just that during her tenure at Allure Studios. From there, The Essence of Jillizm was born.

Creating the "Jillizm Techniq" was no small feat, it took a great deal of trials and errors. Above all, the mission was to create a place of refuge for her clients to express themselves through their own creative loc journeys. Jillizm has passion to educate and inspire other loc artisans to challenge themselves and continue to grow in their artistry by offering one on one or group classes to learn the Jillizm Techniq.
